Right, so National Novel Writing Month. Aka November. People from all over try to write a 50,000 word novel in one month. It's not about writing a great novel. It's about writing something. Usually, you end up with a big pile of horrible, but there's always something really good in there, somewhere. It's about making progress. You see, most people intend to write a book, but they never actually get around to it. What NaNoWriMo does is it forces you to spit out about 175 pages of whatever pops into your head for a story. This way, even if most of what you wrote sucks, at least you'll have made some serious progress. Trust me. This sort of thing is really helpful. My English professor once made us write an essay in 20 minutes. I thought "This is ridiculous! How is this supposed to help?" Immediately after I wrote the first paragraph, I thought, "Holy crap. That was good." I ended up with a great essay that was basically guaranteed an "A" by the professor after she looked over my rough draft. So yeah. Writing like mad for a month? Not a bad idea. I've managed to get Griffin2448, our glorified toaster administrator to join and write a pile of stupid with me. We're both completely new to it, but I think it'll be fun. I would love it if we could get some other people *coughSkyKyiracough* to try this with us. I swear it'll be fun! And when it's all over, we can laugh at each other and ourselves and politicians. www.nanowrimo.org/eng/whatisnano
